RULES AGD CHALLENGE 2025

1 – The entry is open to all pigeons, national and international, and all must have approved official ring of Federation / Association.

2 – All pigeons participating must have participated in one of the previous editions of Sommer Race or Winter Race.

3 – The activation costs 50 EUR per Pigeon and payments should be made to :

4 – Only previous owners can activate their own pigeons until the last training. After the last training everyone else can activate not activated pigeons.

5 – Activation will be only valid after sending an email to office@algarvegreatderby.com and henrique@algarvegreatderby.com together with a proof of payment. Activation requests will be ordered on a first-come, first-served order of the request to the email, sending email is mandatory, and may not be sufficient for the activation of pigeons only the bank proof, this by itself may not guarantee the activation of pigeons, and the organization is not responsible or guaranteed, activations that are not accompanied by email to request such activations.

6 – Only ACTIVATED pigeons are entitled to prizes.

7 – All races will be the same as the ones for the AGD Winter Race 2025

8 – Ace-Pigeon Championship

8.1 – To win the ace pigeon championship, the pigeon must compulsory get points on the final race.

8.2 – If 1 or more of the 8 races cannot be held, the ace pigeon race is determined by the races that have been held.

8.3 – In the event of a tie after the conclusion of the Ace Pigeon Races, the pigeon with the best classification in the final race will be the winner of the Ace Pigeon Championship.

8.4 – The winner of the Ace Pigeon race is determined by the highest number of points accumulated in the 8 races.

8.5 – For the classification, 50% of the pigeons sent in each race will count, and the score will be calculated on the basis of the number of pigeons sent in the first race. EX. 1000 pigeons sent, the score will be as follows:

  1. = 500 points
  2. = 499 points
  3. = 498 points

and so on up to the pigeon arriving in the position equivalent to 50 per cent of the pigeons sent. All other pigeons will not receive points.

8.6 – Time of arrival criteria:

8.6.1 – In the first 7 races, the classification for the ace pigeon championship ends after the arrival of 50% of the sent pigeons or until the race closes in the BENZING system, at least 8 hours after the arrival of the first pigeon and at most until the end of the second day of racing if 50% of the pigeons have not returned. In the Semi-Final and Final the maximum period will be extended to the end of the third day of racing if 50% of the pigeons have not returned.

9 – Prizes (EUR) based on 200 participating pigeons. If more or less participating pigeons, then this table will be proportionally recalculated.

10 – Auctions

The organisation will coordinate and promote the compulsory auction of all pigeons arrived from the final racer. The participant agrees to sell the pigeon to the organisation for 35% (VAT included) of the final auction value.  

11 – Taxes:

The amounts mentioned in the Regulation include VAT at the rate in force, since applicable, and all prizes are in euro. According to the opinion of the Tax Authority and Portuguese law, all participants / members resident in Portugal who receive money from prizes, pigeon sales or commissions, will be responsible for the payment of its tax (25%), referring to these funds, withholding by the AGD (Organizing Club) of this amount, which will then send it to the Tax Authority, as determined by law. Non-residents in Portugal are exempt from paying the tax, and there is no withholding (25%), the prizes will be paid in full, provided that they present a tax residence certificate abroad, or model 21-RFI duly completed and stamped, and if they do not provide proof of tax residence outside Portugal the AGD will have to deduct in the premiums the amount of 25 %, and then send that money to the Portuguese Tax Authority.

12 – Unforeseen

In the event of any anomaly, such as a pandemic, impositions of higher entities, meteorological catastrophe, sabotage, or others, unrelated to the organization, that it is not possible to hold all the official races, entitled to prizes, after the pigeons have entered the loft and are paid, the organization will sell the pigeons at auction and the participant agrees to sell the pigeon to the organisation for 35% (VAT included) of the final auction value. The participants of that year will be entitled to entry to the next edition free of charge, in the same number of pigeons that participated that year. In the event that any unforeseen of the above occurs after some races have already taken place, they will be void, as well as the respective prizes won.

Any eventuality that leads to conflict not covered by this regulation, will be resolved by the organization, and this decision will be sovereign.
